5 Must-Know Tips for Your Jeep Wrangler Windshield Replacement

The Jeep Wrangler isn’t a car. It isn’t a truck and it isn’t an SUV. Jeep Wranglers stand alone in the world of four-wheeled mechanics and that’s one of the many reasons we love them. Owning a Jeep isn’t for the weak and it takes a certain personality to live the type of life a Jeep Wrangler offers a driver.
Life as a Jeep owner comes with a few bumps in the road and some of those leave cracks in our windshields. In this blog, we’ll go over all the things Jeep Wrangler owners should know before replacing their windshields.

1. Jeep Wranglers Suffer Windshield Damage More Than Most

The flat placement of the Jeep Wrangler windshield makes it more susceptible to damage than other vehicles that have angled glass. The windshield on a Jeep Wrangler was designed that way so it was easier to see when driving in rough terrain. Another reason we chose to be Jeep owners is because we love off-roading, and a flat windshield is best for that.

    2. Repair if You Can. If You Can’t, Replace

Some small chips can be repaired, as opposed to pulling out the entire windshield and replacing it with new glass. But this also depends on if there is any ADAS technology being obstructed. If you can repair the chip we suggest doing that as soon as possible. Small chips can become big cracks so the longer it sits, the more you risk having to do a full replacement.

    3. You Have Glass Options

The original glass that came with your Jeep is probably Gorilla Glass. You can replace it with this type but it can be pricey. You also have the choice of going with OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) glass.
The latter isn’t as expensive and it meets all the industry standards. Since Jeep windshields are more likely to be damaged, it’s good to know there are less expensive options.

    4. The Price Can Vary

Replacing the windshield on a Jeep Wrangler can cost anywhere from $325 to $1,200. When you contact an auto glass service they will be able to give you a quote right away. They’ll want to know things like the year your Jeep was made and if you have any ADAS technology.

    5. Only an Expert Will Do

As we’ve said, a Jeep isn’t just a vehicle. It’s a lifestyle. So when you choose the technicians who will repair or replace your windshield, do your due diligence so you know the job will be done correctly. There’s nothing worse than having a leak or some other issue and having to go back to fix the issue.
